Training Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

The training manager will work closely with USAID’s Foreign Service National (FSN) Advisory Committee (UAC), the Project Director, and Training specialists to develop and coordinate training sessions for the local staff, encouraging practical application of skills as part of continuous learning. Responsibilities will include the following:

 

  • Leading a strategic approach to the training and professional development of USAID Nepal’s Mission local staff, managing training specialists to implement training activities, and coordinating training and professional development sessions.
  • Identify and assess the training needs of local staff through consultation sessions.
  • Working with subject matter training specialists to develop a comprehensive training and professional development strategy.
  • Overseeing the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of training activities and collaborating with training specialists on related activities.
  • Facilitating Training of Trainers (TOT) workshops for local staff.
  • Coordinating closely with subject matter experts to inform high-quality course curriculum based on local staff needs.
  • Identifying and experimenting with innovative approaches to instructional design and facilitation.
  • Using a basic understanding of online learning principles to adapt elements of in-person training to virtual audiences.
  • Ensuring training materials are captured and re-packaged to extend their value beyond the immediate training beneficiaries.

 

Timeframe: March 2024 – February 2025

 

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in social sciences, sociology, psychology, or related fields.
  • 7+ years of experience in leadership capacity building or coaching.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Previous experience overseeing the execution of professional development strategies, including managing against clear objectives, tracking milestones, communicating progress, and evaluating work against shifting priorities.
  • Previous experience with and knowledge of adult learning, training of trainers (ToT) model and virtual learning.
  • Previous experience supervising or administering training programs, reviewing training/course materials, including evaluation, required.
  • Experience working with USAID and/or other international donors.
  • Familiarity with the international development sector is preferred
  • Experience working in Nepal, India, and/or the South Asian region.
  • Fluency in Nepali and English is required.
  • Nepali citizenship or residence with a work permit is required.

 

REPORTING:

The Training Manager will work under the direct supervision of the Project Director and will manage and collaborate with subject matter training specialists. 

 

The Training Manager will be based in Kathmandu, Nepal. Preference will be given to applicants who hold Nepali citizenship/residency.
