Trainee – Media and Dealing with the past

Position:                   Trainee Media and Dealing with the past

 
Working period:     6 months with possibility of extension upto 9 months


Reports to:              Program Coordinator 

 

Responsibilities: 

The aim of the traineeship is to support the Conflict-Sensitive Media component and Dealing with the Past thematic team in administrative and communication processes. Under the overall supervision of the Program Coordinator and direct supervision of the CPS colleagues (thematic teams Dialogues and DwP), the trainee will gain experience and work in the fields of media production, conflict-transformation and dealing with the past. 

 

The following tasks are outlining the traineeship position:

  • Supporting in tasks related to the implementation of the conflict-sensitive media production course: 
  • Supporting communication with applicants, with participants and with experts 
  • Supporting in administrative tasks
  • Supporting in managing the content of the eLearning platform atingi (eTutoring)
  • Supporting in monitoring participation (assignments, participation, monitoring participant list) 
  • Supporting Dealing with the Past (DwP) thematic team in organizing the National Memory Conference in December (e.g. coordination, documentation, communication)
  • Supporting in communication with DwP partners (especially for reporting and planning phases)
  • Supporting in audio/video/written documentation of workshops
  • Supporting the PR working group (compiling information, assisting in layout/design).

 

General Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in (Mass) Communication/Journalism or related field, Peace Studies or relevant qualification 
  • Between 18 and 28 years of age.
  • Great interest in learning about different peacebuilding approaches
  • Great communication skills required.
  • Good ICT skills (MS office; basics in desktop publishing, graphic-design, content management systems are an asset)
  • Professional experience: working experience (less than on year) is an asset but not a must, knowledge about conflict transformation, peacebuilding and conflict sensitive journalism/media is an asset. 
  • Strong interest and openness to learn and proactively engage with various stakeholders.
  • Language skills: fluency in English and Nepali oral and writing.
