Technical Coordinator

Duration: One Year and Extendable 

 

Location: Provincial Government, Sudurpaschim-Dhangadi, Kailali

 

Direct Reports to: NHSRP National Coordinator, and Program Manager-West Office Habitat Nepal 

 

Technical Report to: DRR Manager Habitat Nepal

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: Information Management Officer 

 

Field Visits: 50% travel to project areas

 

Education Qualification and Professional Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering and/or Architecture, Environment Science, Social Science, Disaster Risk Management or any other equivalent degree such as humanitarian assistance, sustainable development etc that is relevant to the requirements of this position. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in similar roles with an I/NGO in Disaster Management, emergency response or recovery housing and settlement programming. Additional experience may substitute for some education.
  • Report writing skills required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of municipal bylaws and reconstruction procedures and practices in Nepal.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including legal institutions, local Governments and policymakers.
  • Demonstrated ability to represent the organization at coordination meetings with donors, local government, coordination bodies, and other international NGOs required.
  • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, and information management systems.
  • Able to clearly communicate in written and spoken English and Nepali.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Very good planning, coordination, monitoring and organizational skills.
  • Proactive, solutions oriented and results oriented.
  • Attention to details, accuracy, and timeliness in executing assigned responsibilities. Good relationship, management skills and the ability to work closely with local partners and government bodies. Proven ability to work in a team as leader and intercultural environment with minimum supervision.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidates with GEDSI diversity is a plus, including gender (female, other); marginalized groups; persons with disability;  and, origin from geographically marginalized location. 
  • Local expertise w/ permanent address in project district and local language competency is a plus.  Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data. 
  • Experience conducting research.
  • Experience and driving license for two-wheeler.
