Your responsibilities:

  • Define and model data requirements. 
  • Create and manage multiple databases and assist in capacity planning.
  • Monitor, maintain database systems and troubleshoot problems that may arise 
  • Maintain data integrity and security (manage roles and permissions of database users 
  • Use tools like SQL Profiler for database tuning. Generate traces, execution plans, identify performance issues, deadlocks/contention and resolve them.
  • Assist in developing strategies and implementing solutions for managing back-ups, restoration and replication. 
  • Identify the potential risk of database software and work towards minimizing those risks.
  • Provide first level of support for any database related issues raised by team members.  
  • Identify database framework gaps and design solution to fix the gaps and enhance the framework.  
  • Support software developers with database operations including the development of complex SQL, tuning of DML, the creation of stored procedures and adopt new features provided by newer database versions.
  • Effectively coordinate and communicate with all the stakeholders (internal teams and clients). 
  • Mentor and monitor juniors on database related tasks to improve team efficiency.   
  • Conduct regular code review of team members.
  • Research and learn relevant business processes and understand the data flow, criticality and dependencies. 
  • Create detailed documentation including diagrams of database infrastructure.
  • Take ownership of projects for its timely delivery including (but not limited to) planning, estimation, development approach, assignment, reporting etc.
  • Involve in performance evaluation of team members.

Your background:

  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in computer engineering or equivalent. 
  • 5+ years of experience in Database Administration and managing multiple MS SQL 2016 (or higher) RDBMS on large systems. 
  • Extensive experience writing T-SQL and stored procedures and query tuning on high transaction systems.  
  • Experienced in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS). 
  • Sound knowledge of RDBMS concepts, database architecture and SQL/T-SQL.  
  • Proficient with SQL server profiler for monitoring and troubleshooting database activity and performance. 
  • Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention. 
  • Knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, Clustering, Database mirroring, Replication, Partitioning. 
  • Knowledge of SQL Server tools (Profiler, SSMS, PerfMon, DMVs, and system sprocs). 
  • Ability to develop procedure documents and maintain detailed database related documents.  
  • Innovative approach to work, constantly looking for upgrading the system to more efficient and effective new technologies 
  • Knowledge on Azure SQL Server Managed Instance, Azure SQL Database 
  • A multitasker, and team player who has patience and ability to handle job pressure.
