Position overview:
As a Retail Pharmacist, you will be responsible for driving sales, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining operational efficiency across the retail pharmacy. This is a dynamic role that requires strong leadership, excellent organizational skills, and a deep understanding of the retail pharmacy industry.
Roles and responsibilities:
1. Prescription Dispensing:
- Accurately and efficiently dispense prescription medications in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Verify the accuracy of prescription orders and ensure proper billing, labeling, and packaging of medications.
- Provide appropriate medication counseling to patients regarding drug dosage, side effects, and potential interactions.
2. Patient Care and Counseling:
- Provide comprehnsive medication counseling to patients, addressing their concerns, and promoting adherence to prescribed medication regimens.
- Offer advice on over the counter (OTC) medications, health supplements, and self-care treatments.
- Answer patient inquiries regarding medication usage, side effects, and precautions.
3. Inventory Management:
- Monitor medication inventory levels, ensure appropriate stock levels and avoiding stockouts.
- Perform routine inventory audits, check expiration dates, and manage medication returns and recalls.
- Coordinate with Shift In-Charge/Pharmacy manager to ensure the availability of essential medications.
4. Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:
- Adhere to all legal, ethical, and professional pharmacy standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with data protection regulations.
- Stay updated on current developments in pharmaceutical regulations, drug therapies, and clinical guidelines.
5. Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer needs promptly and professionally.
- Handle customer complaints and resolve any issues related to medication or service.
- Foster positive relationships with customers, healthcare providers, and other team members.
6. Non-Negotiable Working Standards:
- Safekeeping of controlled drugs
- The Health, Safety & Security of stocks and staff should never be compromised.
- Safety of sellable & non-sellable items
- Wrongfully dispensing medicines
- Dispensing expired medicines.
Job Requirements:
- 2-5 years of experience in retail pharmacy
- Diploma/Bachelor’s in pharmacy.
- Proven experience patient counselling and medicine dispensing
- Knowledge of inventory management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Exposure in the hospital pharmacy sections of OT/ICU/NICU/OPD/IPD will be given more priority.
