Country Manager

Location: Kathmandu, with frequent travel

 

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for development and coordination of the Country Program
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Country Strategy in all dimensions (e.g. CRSA, administration and logistics)
  • Develop the Country Strategy and update on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for the capacity building of KNH staff and partners
  • Manage proposal discussions with partners. 
  • Facilitate new partnership relations with qualified local organizations.
  • Coordination and Networking of KNH project partners
  • Facilitate Networking with other (non)- government actors.
  • Network and exchange with other Asian country programs
  • Managing the KNH office, including recruitment and training of additional KNH staff, selection of Auditors, legal status of the Office 
  • Coordinate with Social Welfare Council, ensure government compliances and policies.
  • Lead and facilitate central project advisory committee meeting, reporting, and monitoring.
  • Coordination and networking with local and provincial as well as concern ministries.
  • Report in line with KNH standards and formats
  • Assess country situation in interest areas of KNH and develop processes to respond to the changes and needs. 
  • Responsible for the annual country plan and the annual budget of the office and the partners
  • Administration of KNH Nepal Country Structure.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Hold a relevant degree or equivalent in one of the following disciplines: development studies, economics, anthropology, or any other social sciences.
  • Have 3 to 5 years' experience in a senior position or a similar management position. 
  • Have excellent command on both oral and written English communication skills.
  • Possess a good understanding of project management principles.
  • Carry experience in the field of international development cooperation.
  • Hold a background and understanding of child rights programing and be a passionate promoter of child rights.
  • Ability to work with, manage and cooperate within a team.
  • Have experience in engaging with national and regional networks and building partnerships with different stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills including the ability to provide critical yet constructive feedback both internally as well as towards partners.
  • Demonstrate effective project skills.
  • Capacity to write proposals and reports, and to communicate research results to stakeholders at different management levels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and other stakeholders in a multicultural setting with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
