Communications & Behavior Change Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and delivery of the ACCM strategy, aligning it with project specific strategies and actions;
  • Provide technical support and guidance to new project design teams to adequately and appropriately include communications and SBC components as part of the project design and acquire adequate resourcing.
  • Strategize, analyze, and direct social media for Save the Children to attain and maintain a positive online reputation as the leading children’s rights organization in the country, ensuring that the target audience eagerly engages with the brand;
  • Support the writing of op-eds, articles for external audiences, and collaborate with ACCM Director to build strategic media relation;
  • Lead, coach, and train staff to develop and implement SBC strategies, plans and materials/tools in new and ongoing projects; including through the design and implementation of capacity building activities;
  • Collaborate with the Advocacy team to ensure SBC initiatives complement public campaigns.
  • Lead and support the development of innovative approaches to communication SBC, including through the use of information, communication technology as well as partnering with relevant corporate, start-ups, or movement;
  • Liaise with the Centre for Utilising Behavioural Insights for Children (CUBIC) to exchange learning, and to ensure CUBIC’s engagement and support to our program from behaviour change perspective;
  • Provide technical support and leadership to strengthen Save the Children’s Risk Communications and Community Engagement (RCCE) activities during humanitarian crisis;
  • Work collaboratively with Save the Children’s MEAL to strengthen knowledge management, and ensure that studies/research conducted by the organizations are formulated into ready-to-use, and disseminate reports, learning briefs, learning events to be diffused both internally and externally;
  • Strategic support for communications, media, socials and behaviour for Bhutan office.

 

Qualifications and experience:

  • Master’s degree in journalism, media, communications, marketing, behaviour science, or related field
  • Minimum 7 years ( 5 Years for GSI group) experience in managing communications, media, and SBC related projects, campaigns, and advocacy;
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, creativity and willingness to innovate;
  • Demonstrated abilities and experience in designing high-quality and measurable strategies for communications and SBC, along with working knowledge on M&E, and knowledge management;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in team situations;
  • Demonstrated capacity for collaboration including the development of strong external networks and an authentic approach to partnership;
  • Fluent oral and written Nepali and English communications skills is required.

 

Desirable:

  • Experience specific to at least one of the five themes that SC works in (H&N, Education, CP, CRG or Child Poverty) will be an added advantage;
  • Working knowledge on Advocacy and Campaign design and implementation;
  • Work experience at the community level in programs that require active engagement with families and the community;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and background in community mobilization and engagement;
  • Experience of knowledge management in a reasonably sized organisation.
