Emerging Nepal Limited, a leading publicly listed Investment Company, is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to provide strategic leadership and drive the company's investment initiatives. The CEO will play a pivotal role in overseeing the organization's investment activities in sectors such as Infrastructure, Energy, Financial Services, Hospitality, IT and other relevant areas of national priorities. The ideal candidate shall possess the following qualifications, skills, and experience:

 

  • At least a Master's Degree (MBA/MBS/MA Economics) or Professional Qualification such as CA/ACCA/CFA.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience working as leadership positions at Investment Company/Investment Fund/Merchant Bank/Asset Management Company/Banking/Investment Board/Private Equity Industry is preferred
  • Prior experience closely coordinating with Ministries and regulators such as Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Industry, Investment Board, OCR, SEBON, NEPSE, IRD, etc. is preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant Government laws and regulations related to the Company such as Public Private Partnership, FDI, Corporate Law, Income Tax, etc.
  • Working knowledge of financial modeling and investment analysis.

 

Job Description:

 

1. Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop the Company's strategic direction and plans (short, medium, and long term) to achieve corporate objectives.
  • Provide overall leadership in implementing strategic and business plans within the authority limitations delegated by the Board.
  • Monitor and report results to the Board, ensuring financial and operational objectives are met.

 

2. Investment Management:

  • Screen and present investment deals to the Investment Committee and the Board for approval.
  • Conduct research and identify investable projects/deals, prepare business plans, financial projections, and feasibility study reports.
  • Develop annual capital commitment and expenditure budgets, as well as operating forecasts for revenue, expenditures, operational results, and financial performance.

 

3. Fund Management:

  • Effectively manage the Company's funds to maximize returns and ensure appropriate diversification.
  • Monitor investment portfolios, evaluate performance, and recommend adjustments as necessary.

 

4. Oversight to Portfolio Companies:

  • Sit on the board of portfolio companies, providing strategic direction and guidance.
  • Periodic visit to Portfolio Companies’ sites to oversee operation.

 

5. Stakeholder Management:

  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with stakeholders such as Promoters, Shareholders, Board of Directors, Employees, SEBON, NEPSE, Ministry of Finance, Other Ministries and regulators, Auditors, BFIs, and the communities in which the Company operates.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders, representing the Company's interests.

 

6. Value Creation and Risk Management:

  • Manage the business to create sustainable long-term shareholder value.
  •  Identify and communicate all material risks to the Board, along with mitigation plans and procedures.

 

7. Relationship Building: 

  • Prepare proposals and corresponding documents for submission to Ministries, Regulators, external investors, etc.
  • Attend relevant investment meets and conferences.

 

8. Governance and Compliance:

  • Ensure timely completion of Board meetings, Annual General Meetings (AGM), Investors Meet, etc.
  • Comply with regulatory requirements and ensure adherence to corporate governance practices.

 

9. Additional Responsibilities:

  • Undertake other tasks assigned by the Board of Directors as required.
