Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Assistant to join our team. As an Accounting Assistant, you will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and supporting various accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintain full bookkeeping and accounting records, including purchase ledger, sales ledger, and general ledger, using cloud-based accounting software.
  • Prepare monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations, including bank, sales ledger, purchase ledger, Intercompany, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Compile and present the monthly management accounts pack to the management team.
  • Prepare and file quarterly VAT returns in a timely manner.
  • Perform bank reconciliations in multiple currencies.
  • Regularly review the sales and purchase ledgers for overdue amounts and address any outstanding issues.
  • Conduct credit control activities, including chasing outstanding debt.
  • Drive and support continuous improvement initiatives by assisting in the development and documentation of new processes.
  • Prepare analysis and reports for management to facilitate timely, fact-based business decisions.
  • Review time reports and cost/profit analysis, and request explanations for variances as needed.
  • Perform general office management duties as required to support the smooth operation of the finance department.
  • Complete special projects and other responsibilities as assigned by the management team.
  • Undertake other ad-hoc duties as assigned to meet the needs of the business.

 

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, and related field or Semi-Qualified CA/MBA in Finance.
  • Completion of article ship under a registered Chartered Accountant firm (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Zero, QuickBooks).
  • Fluent in English (both verbal and written)
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
