Job Description
Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate records of all construction materials and equipment in the site's inventory.
- Regularly update the inventory database or system to track stock levels.
- Conduct physical counts and audits to reconcile inventory records with actual stock on hand.
Receiving and Inspection:
- Receive and inspect incoming construction materials and equipment.
- Verify that received items match purchase orders and packing lists.
- Identify and report damaged, defective, or incorrect items to the procurement or construction management team.
Storage and Organization:
- Properly store construction materials and equipment to prevent damage, spoilage, or theft.
- Organize items in a logical and accessible manner within the construction site's storage area.
- Implement appropriate inventory rotation methods, such as first-in, first-out (FIFO), as needed.
Issuing and Distribution:
- Process requests for materials and equipment from various construction teams or departments.
- Prepare items for distribution, ensuring accurate picking, packing, and labeling.
- Maintain a log of materials and equipment issued and their destinations.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- Maintain detailed and up-to-date records of all inventory transactions, including receipts, issues, and returns.
- Prepare and maintain relevant documentation, such as requisition forms and inventory reports.
- Generate regular reports on inventory levels, usage, and trends for construction management.
Stock Control and Reordering:
- Monitor construction materials and equipment levels to prevent shortages and overstocking.
- Calculate reorder points and coordinate with procurement to ensure timely replenishment of stock.
- Keep construction management informed of any potential supply issues that could impact the project's progress.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that construction materials meet quality and safety standards.
- Conduct periodic quality checks on stored items.
- Report any quality issues to supervisors, quality control personnel, or procurement.
Safety and Security:
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines when handling construction materials and equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and secure storage area within the construction site.
- Implement security measures to prevent theft, vandalism, or unauthorized access to the storage area.
Communication:
- Collaborate with various construction teams and departments to understand their inventory needs and priorities.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers regarding deliveries, discrepancies, and returns.
- Report any issues, concerns, or observations to construction site supervisors or management.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Ensure that construction equipment, such as forklifts, cranes, or hoists, is well-maintained and in good working condition.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards promptly.
Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with construction site safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist with periodic audits and inspections related to inventory control and safety.
