Qualitative Researchers

The qualitative Researchers will conduct a qualitative study consisting of four journey mapping exercises among 1) Muslim 2) Dalit 3) Tharu, and 4) Male clients who purchase female contraceptives; aged 15 to 29 years who are married or unmarried and have purchased and used contraception within last six months under MOMENTUM Private Healthcare Delivery (MPHD) Nepal project supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare individual detailed timeline to carry out a qualitative study in Gandaki, Koshi, and Lumbini provinces.
  • Prepare and finalize topic guides according to the scope of work to conduct in-depth interviews (IDIs) and focus group discussions (FGDs).
  • Lead IDIs and FGDs in the selected municipalities within Gandaki, Koshi, and Lumbini provinces.
  • Ensure transcriptions of IDIs and FGD recordings and its quality.
  • Analyze findings either manually or using qualitative software owned by the consultant.
  • Work closely with an infographic designer to map out lead journey.
  • Prepare technical brief of the journey that the consultant is leading.

 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in public health or other related field with three years of experience or Bachelor’s degree in above mentioned field with five years of experience in carrying out qualitative assessment/studies/research.
  • Previous work experience in conducting qualitative studies in a lead or co-led role with government/NGOs/INGOs or as a job responsibility mainly conducting in-depth interviews.
  • Well versed in research methodology–design qualitative topic guides, data collection, analysis, synthesize, and prepare a detailed report.
  • Preferred researcher who has previously conducted or involved in journey mapping studies.
  • Able to analyze qualitative data using qualitative software like NVivo, Atlas Ti or manually.
  • Good understanding of Muslim, or Dalit, or Tharu communities.
  • Ability to write and communicate clearly and concisely in both languages (Nepal and English)
  • Sound knowledge and skills in computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and others.
