Job Summary: 

As a Psychosocial Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in providing compassionate and effective counseling services to individuals experiencing psychological and emotional challenges. Your primary focus will be on offering psychosocial support, counseling, and guidance to help children (8 – 20 years) navigate through difficult life circumstances, improve their emotional well-being, and enhance their coping mechanisms.

 

Type: 

Part-time (4:30 pm – 6:30 pm)

 

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field, with at least 4 years of experience.
  • Proven experience in providing psychosocial counseling and support
  • Strong knowledge of various therapeutic approaches and interventions
  • Empathy, sensitivity, and the ability to establish rapport with diverse clients.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills, especially in crises
  • Proficiency in maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Cultural competence and awareness of diversity issues
  • Proficiency in relevant software and documentation tools.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address psychosocial needs, emotional distress, trauma, and other mental health concerns
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques to help children understand and manage their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors
  • Create a safe and non-judgmental environment where children feel comfortable sharing their concerns and experiences
  • Provide immediate support and crisis intervention for children in acute distress, working to stabilize their emotional state and ensure their safety
  • Teach children effective emotional regulation techniques and coping skills to manage stress, anxiety, depression, and other emotional challenges
  • Work sensitively with children who have experienced trauma, helping them process and heal from traumatic experiences
  • Educate children about mental health, self-care, and strategies for maintaining emotional well-being.
  • Maintain confidential client records, documenting counseling sessions, progress, and any relevant observations
  • Prepare monthly reports and case summaries as required for internal and external purposes
  • Work together with house parents and the program management team
  • Conduct training, workshops, and awareness programs.
