Major responsibilities:

The Psychosocial Counselor will be responsible for the following duties but not limited to:

 

  • Offer a range of services, including individual assessment, first-level response, and appropriate psychosocial support for the individual seeking support for postnatal depression and other issues
  • Undertake assessments and provide counseling and referral services in the community.
  •  Conduct community-based psychosocial orientation and sensitization program.
  • Maintain case documentation.
  •  Participate in weekly project coordination meetings and weekly peer supervision and support meetings.
  • Seek periodic clinical supervision and mentoring from the team
  • Assist clinical supervisor in conducting training and supervision of Health Workers and FCHVs.
  • Provide regular and timely updates to the research coordinator and IT officer on technological and project-specific challenges.
  •  Reports to the Project lead and clinical supervisor.
  • Contribute to an app development process, paper publications, and dissemination activities.
  • Follow the inputs and additional responsibilities provided by the clinical supervisor when it comes to strategic benefits to the project.

 

Qualification, Skills and Experience:

  •  6 months of training in psychosocial counseling from a reputed institution.
  • Should have completed at least Plus 2 or equivalent with one-year of working experience as a psychosocial counselor. A bachelor’s degree Bachelor’s degree in public health, psychology, population health, anthropology, epidemiology, global health, or related field is preferable.
  • Prior experience of providing MHPSS service using Problem Management Plus (PM+) will be an advantage
  • Able to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  •  Able to travel in remote areas of Kaski district.
  • Well-knowledgeable on the Nepal health care delivery system.
  • Preferred those with a driving license for motorbike or scooter.
  • Preference will be given to the local candidates so residents of Kaski and Gandaki Province are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Must be computer literate. Able to prepare reports on the computer and maintain a database of case management.
  •  Priority will be given to those who have experience working with vulnerable populations, specifically individuals and communities with maternal depression, suicidal behaviors, etc.
