Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare field implementation plans for ongoing programmes and projects in the BBS complex.
  • Collect data on wildlife movement and dispersals, status of Human Wildlife Conflict (HWC) and preparing plans to mitigate HWC
  • Prepare documents on best practices from previous projects and provide recommendations on interventions.
  • Visit and consult with local communities on the proposed interventions.
  • Carry out surveys to compare the baseline data, data after interventions and set key performance indicators.
  • Organise capacity building sessions for park officials, implementing partners and other key stakeholders.
  • Regularly visit the project implementation site and collect data from the field to feed into reports in compliance with the project needs.
  • With guidance from FPO/PO and in consultation with Human Wildlife Coexistence champions (HWCx) prepare a clear and concise plan with set targets and timeline for HWCx to implement in the field.
  • Participate in meetings held at community levels and report on progress.
  • Finalise the HWC mitigation and livelihood restoration plan.
  • Prepare draft content to feed into monthly highlights, challenges and priorities and plans for the next month.
  • Provide technical support in implementing project activities to relevant stakeholders.
  • Carry out any other activities as assigned by the line manager..

 

Person Specification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (Environment science/management, forestry, wildlife, natural resource management or other relevant discipline)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with good track record in programme and project implementation and/or management
  • Basic knowledge and skills in biodiversity conservation and sustainable livelihood programmes
  • Good socio-economic research and facilitation skills
  • Basic understanding of the socio-political context of Nepal, specifically of the western lowland region
  • Familiarity with the relevant policies and laws regarding communities’ use of natural resources, tenure system, forestry, and wildlife conservation motivators
  • Proficiency in oral and written English, including a demonstrated track record in content creation and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken Nepali language is required.
