Other Specification:

  • Bachelor degree in social sciences or other related fields 
  • 3-5 years of experience in policy research, program planning, implementation, and reporting 
  • Excellent writing and communication skills 
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Nepali; fluency in other languages spoken in Nepal valued 
  • Experience in research and analysis of social issues; experience in labor issues preferred 
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering high quality reports on time; experience in donor reporting preferred 
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and high level of attention to details in all aspects of work responsibilities 
  • Strong people-centered skills, proactive approach, and highly professional approach to sharing information 
  • Demonstrated commitment to gender equity, diversity, and inclusion; familiarity with GESI-responsive budgeting is a plus 
  • Able to creatively problem solve and work independently with minimal supervision 
  • Able to positively contribute to collective goals set under the leadership of the Country Director.

 

Job Description:

 

Program Development & Implementation 

  • Carry out research and analysis, using GESI/DEI lens, on topics relevant to labor movement, trade unions, migration, other issues affecting the rights of Nepali workers at home and abroad 
  • In coordination with the Country Director, develop and edit knowledge products, including policy briefs, issue papers, event reports, articles, blog posts, etc. 
  • Support the Country Director to ensure timely monitoring of progress against objectives and deliverables 
  • Take the lead in managing logistics, including preparing and monitoring budgets, for meetings, program-related events, and field visits 
  • Identify opportunities for new program areas, including joint efforts with other country offices and thematic teams.

 

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Prepare notes and reports from meetings, discussion events, seminar, field visits, and other program related events 
  • Draft periodic narrative and financial reports in close coordination with the Country Director and other team members 
  • Organize information and prepare documents to meet donor requirements.

 

Manage/Supervise Direct Reports:

  • Prepare ToRs for project related consultancies and monitor progress
  • Supervise and coordinate with consultants to ensure timely accomplishment of activities as per the work plan 
  • Supervise program interns and trainees.

 

Other Responsibilities:

  • Represent Solidarity Center-Nepal at meetings, workshops, and program events as requested by the Country Director 
  • Coordinate with the Finance and Admin Officer to ensure smooth functioning of the programs 
  • Perform other appropriate duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Country Director or her designee.
