Education:

An advanced university degree (Master’s or Doctorate degree, or equivalent) in in political science, international relations, international economics, law, public administration or related fields is required. A first-level degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in the specified fields of studies with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience:

• A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in political science, international relations, disarmament, security or related area is required.
• Experience in the field of disarmament and control of conventional weapons is desirable.
• Experience working in Asia-Pacific is desirable.
• Experience working in or in support of a field operation of the United Nations Common System or a comparable international organization is desirable.

Languages:

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English, both written and oral, is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Assessment:

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
