Other Specification:
- Proven experience in geological investigations, preferably with a focus on tunneling or underground construction projects.
- Strong understanding of geological principles, rock mechanics, soil behavior, and geotechnical analysis.
- Proficiency in geological mapping, geological software, and data interpretation tools.
- Experience with geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring systems.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail in assessing complex geological situations.
- Effective communication skills to convey technical information to multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to work in challenging environments and adapt to changing project conditions.
- Professional licensure or certification in relevant geological associations is desirable.
- Prior experience working on tunneling projects involving varying ground conditions, soft soils, hard rock, and fault zones is advantageous.
Job Description:
- Conduct thorough geological surveys and assessments of tunnel project sites to identify potential geological hazards, rock formations, soil types, and other relevant factors that could impact tunnel construction.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to develop tunnel alignment and excavation plans based on geological data, ensuring stability and safety during tunneling operations.
- Analyze rock and soil samples obtained from drilling and excavation to determine their physical and chemical properties, and provide recommendations for appropriate tunneling techniques.
- Monitor and interpret geological conditions during tunnel excavation, using advanced tools and technologies to detect changes in ground stability, water ingress, and other geotechnical parameters.
- Advise on the selection of ground support systems, including rock bolts, shotcrete, and other reinforcement methods, to prevent collapses and maintain tunnel integrity.
- Prepare detailed geological reports, maps, and cross-sections for project stakeholders, outlining the geological conditions encountered and the strategies employed to overcome challenges.
- Collaborate with geotechnical engineers, hydrogeologists, and other experts to develop comprehensive solutions for managing groundwater, rockfall, and other geological-related risks.
- Participate in risk assessments and contribute to the development of mitigation strategies to ensure worker safety and project success.
- Stay current with advancements in tunneling technology, geological mapping techniques, and ground monitoring systems to enhance project efficiency and accuracy.
