Eligibility criteria

Age: 35 – 80


Nationality: Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.

 

Required experience

  • 5 years of experience in writing and editing skills in the English language, with demonstrated ability for logical and analytical writing as well as ‘de-jargoning’ technical language for a wider audience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Creative Writing, Communication, or relevant discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience and background in communications or journalism, specifically in writing and editing in the English language
  • Previous knowledge with website management, google analytics and marketing (Google Ads and social media) is preferred.
  • Experience in event and/or campaign management and support is an asset
  • Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently within deadlines and under pressure
  • Well organized and structured, good attention for detail
  • Strong drive for results, taking pride in delivering as per expectation in terms of quality and timeliness
  • Ability to synthesize complex documents into key messages and clear summary documents is desirable
  • Experience in drafting communication and advocacy reports and other documents from research or studies is preferred
  • Experience in conducting interviews for collecting information/case studies is desirable
  • Knowledge and understanding of UNICEF, the child rights agenda and the UN system is desirable
  • Experience working with UNICEF or other development organizations is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging and multicultural environment
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.), familiarity with database management and office technology equipment;
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
  • Sound security awareness;
