Qualifications and experience:

• Master’s degree or equivalent in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Public Administration or equivalent.
• Minimum 7 years of demonstrated experience in any area of expertise, of which at least 5 years directly relevant work experience in Climate Change in an advisory or implementation role at an international NGO or similar organisation.
• Demonstrable experience in advocating, researching or programming for Climate Change (including outside of a professional scope).
• Significant knowledge of Climate Change in Nepal, relevant policies, institutions, trends.
• Substantial experience and knowledge of securing and managing grants from major institutional donors.
• Proven ability to manage multiple complex tasks, programs or projects and delivering results.
• Ability to analyse information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically.
•  Strong written and verbal communications skills in English and Nepali and experience making presentations to internal and external audiences.
• Proven ability to work independently and also collaboratively, as part of multi-cultural teams.
• Availability to work early or late to accommodate calls with teams in other regions and time zones.
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex issues through critical thinking, analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy in.
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including communicating with impact, influencing, negotiation, and coaching.
• Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours in the event of major emergencies including travelling at short notice and for extended periods of time.
• Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches.
